Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center
Simmons Acute Care
Simmons Acute Care offers same-day appointments for established Simmons Cancer Center patients experiencing cancer-related symptoms or side effects that need urgent attention but are not immediately life threatening. As your cancer care providers, we never want you to visit an emergency department if it’s not needed.
When to Visit Simmons Acute Care
Some of the symptoms we can help you with include:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dehydration
- Infections and wound care
- Unmanaged diarrhea
- Dizziness, changes in blood pressure
- Other urgent, non-life-threatening medical issues
How to Make an Appointment
- If you have an urgent medical concern, contact your Simmons Cancer Center oncologist/care team and tell them the problem you are having. They may be able to help you over the phone.
- If needed, your oncologist will schedule an appointment for you with Simmons Acute Care and tell the staff to expect you.
- If you are unable to reach your oncologist/care team directly, please call 214-645-HOPE (4673) and ask to speak to a member of your care team as soon as possible. (If you have a life-threatening emergency, always call 911.)
