UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center has a variety of opportunities for volunteers. Volunteers help continue UT Southwestern’s tradition of providing caring service and assistance to our patients, guests, and staff.
We offer challenging and rewarding opportunities that help our volunteers help others and grow as individuals, too. We are grateful for our volunteers and want them to know they make a difference every day.
Volunteer Duties and Hours
Our volunteer hours at the Cancer Center are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We require our volunteers to commit to one 3- to 4-hour shift per week for a minimum of six months or 100 hours.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have identification that includes a Social Security number. They need to complete and return the volunteer application and forms (downloadable below) and pass the background and reference checks.
The volunteer program coordinator will contact applicants to schedule an interview and discuss volunteer placement opportunities that best match the applicant’s interests.
At that time, applicants will also be notified of upcoming volunteer orientation dates. Orientations are typically held twice a month on weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
