Specialized Care to Keep Smiles Healthy and Bright
Cosmetic
dentistry focuses on improving a patient's appearance through the
straightening, whitening, or repairing of teeth. A rapidly growing field, it’s aimed
at aesthetically complementing patients’ overall general and oral health.
The cosmetic dentists and oral surgeons at UT Southwestern have the
extensive training and experience required to offer the most advanced cosmetic
procedures available today. Surgeons from Asia, Europe, and South America have
visited our renowned Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic to observe and learn
from the advancements we've made.
Cosmetic Dentistry Services
Each of our patients undergoes a comprehensive evaluation and interview
to determine their goals and expectations for cosmetic dentistry. Our team then
creates an individualized treatment plan – because a personalized approach
offers the best possible results.
UT Southwestern’s cosmetic dentistry specialists employ the most
current proven techniques and products to achieve optimum results. Our services
include:
- Dental bonding: Used to
repair issues such as chipped and irregularly shaped teeth in which little
or no tooth reduction is necessary
- Dental bridges: Nonremovable
artificial teeth that are attached to a prosthesis bonded to the remaining
natural teeth on both sides of a toothless gap
- Dental crowns: Tailor-made
porcelain “caps” that replace the entire external portion of damaged
teeth, replicating their function and appearance
- Dental implants: A
state-of-the-art solution to missing
teeth in which artificial teeth are attached to tiny titanium posts
that are inserted into the jaw bone
- Gingival sculpting (“gum
reshaping” or “gum contouring”): A procedure that utilizes a laser to
reshape gums that are uneven or overlap the teeth excessively
- Porcelain veneers: Very thin,
strong pieces of porcelain affixed to the teeth that are used to change
the appearance of tooth shape, size, position, or color
- Post and core: A
procedure performed after a root-canal procedure so that a crown can be
placed
- Tooth whitening and bleaching: In-office
procedure that treats the front eight teeth, with results that can last
for more than a year
- Tooth-colored fillings: Strong,
tooth-colored plastic – not metal – used to fill decayed teeth
- Enameloplasty (“tooth
contouring” or “tooth reshaping”): Procedure that removes a tiny amount of
enamel to change the shape, size, or surface of teeth
