UT Southwestern Medical Center offers expert care and effective treatments for all types of nasal and sinus disorders, including rhinitis, sinusitis, congestion, nasal polyps, and nasal tumors. Our physicians provide comprehensive nasal and sinus evaluations and create an individualized treatment plan for each patient.

For patients with allergic rhinitis, UT Southwestern offers medical management of allergy symptoms through targeted forms of therapy (antihistamines, decongestants, and other medications) and immunotherapy. UT Southwestern’s allergy immunotherapy treatments using shots can result in patients becoming less allergic to irritating agents.

Sleep Disorders and Snoring

We offer patients advanced diagnostic evaluations and effective treatments for all types of sleep-related breathing disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea and chronic snoring problems.

Our specialists use sleep studies to help determine the source of the patient’s condition and how it may be treated. A sleep study can also provide an accurate assessment of how treatment is progressing and whether treatment modifications are necessary.

Patients with sleep disorders can also be treated by our sleep and breathing disorder service.

Sinusitis

If you experience sinusitis as a result of deviated septums, polyps, nasal allergies, or other conditions, you might benefit from UT Southwestern’s effective medical management of the condition. Depending on the specific cause of your condition, our specialists may prescribe antibiotics, decongestants, pain medications, or allergy treatments.

For sinus conditions that do not adequately respond to medical management, our physicians can treat chronic conditions with advanced surgical procedures, including functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). Our experienced surgeons use a small fiber-optic scope to view and perform procedures needed to correct or remove any obstructive tissues. The surgeries help relieve your chronic symptoms, improve breathing, and increase quality of life.

Pediatric Rhinology and Sinus Conditions

Nasal and sinus disorders can look different in children than they do in adults. For example, children are more likely to develop sinusitis because their sinuses aren't completely developed. This risk increases if they have a weakened immune system or are in daycare. For this reason, it’s important that young patients receive care from ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialists who are specifically trained to work with children.

UT Southwestern Pediatric Group’s ENT doctors recognize and treat conditions that affect the nose and the paranasal sinuses in children, including chronic sinusitis, chronic runny nose, allergic rhinitis, and related conditions. As the largest group of ENT pediatric doctors in North Texas, our team includes fellowship-trained, board certified doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff who focus solely on pediatric ENT.
