Biography
David Chason, M.D. FACR, is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Neuroradiology Division. He also serves as Chief of Neuroradiology at Parkland Health & Hospital System. His clinical interests include spine interventions, computed tomography (CT) imaging, and catheter angiography.
Dr. Chason holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He then received advanced training in neuroradiology through a fellowship program at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center.
Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 1992, Dr. Chason was an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville and then spent several years in private practice.
His research interests include CT angiography and perfusion, CT physics, interventional spinal radiology, and neuroradiology – investigations that have resulted in 40 original articles and nearly 100 presentations at professional conferences throughout the United States and around the world.
A career marked by service
At UT Southwestern, Dr. Chason serves on many committees in the areas of radiology education, research, and quality improvement.
He is also an active member of numerous national and international organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, American Society of Spine Radiology, Association of University Radiologists, Association of Program Directors in Radiology, and the North American Spine Society. He also is a Senior Member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and in 2015, he became a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.
