Biography
Hugh L. McClung, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern. He specializes in adult preventive medicine.
Dr. McClung earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed an internal medicine residency at the former St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, where he served as Chief Resident.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. McClung joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2006 following a 25-year career in private practice, during which time he served as Chair of Internal Medicine at Allied Physicians of DFW in Dallas.
He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society. He is also a Fellow of the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. McClung was named one of D Magazine’s Hall of Fame Best Doctors in 2022. He has earned multiple other awards and accolades, including being honored as a Texas Monthly Texas Super Doctor numerous times.
Personal Note
When he’s not at work, Dr. McClung enjoys vegetable gardening, raising chickens, farming, and traveling.
