Biography
Jeffrey Schellinger, M.C.N., RD, CSOWM, LD, is the Senior Program Coordinator and a Registered Dietitian in UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Weight Wellness Program. He is a board-certified specialist in Obesity and Weight Management.
Mr. Schellinger earned undergraduate degrees in music education, then molecular biology and genetics from the University of Houston prior to moving to Dallas in 2011 for a research position at UT Southwestern. After having bariatric surgery to pursue his personal health and wellness goals, he began a journey toward more direct patient care. In 2017, he completed a Master of Clinical Nutrition at the UT Southwestern School of Health Professions where he focused on adult weight management, diabetes education, and obesity research.
Mr. Schellinger joined the Weight Wellness practice to combine his interests in nutrition, education, metabolic health, adult weight management, and patient-focused research. He serves as an active clinician for research on campus and as a guest lecturer and preceptor for the clinical nutrition and physician training programs at UT Southwestern.
Mr. Schellinger is an advocate for interdisciplinary teams in medical practices. He believes in promoting the role of Registered Dietitians as team-leads and patient advocates at the intersection of chronic-disease management. Through minimizing access barriers to quality care, he strives to partner providers with patients to improve health outcomes.
As Sr. Program Coordinator, Mr. Schellinger has worked with multiple UT Southwestern entities to optimize scheduling access and care-coordination protocols. He continues to develop his expertise of healthcare operations through advanced EHR training, and he plans to complete a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Organization Leadership.
