Jennifer G. Gill, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her clinical specialties are managing and treating patients with melanoma, advanced skin cancer, or hereditary cancer syndromes.
Dr. Gill earned her medical and doctoral degrees in immunology through the Medical Scientist Training Program at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She completed a dermatology residency – including both clinical and research experience – at UT Southwestern and an internal medicine internship at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Gill runs a basic science and translational research laboratory focused on understanding how cancer metabolism impacts melanoma metastasis and behavior. The lab’s ultimate goal is to identify new biomarkers and treatment strategies to improve the lives of cancer patients. She has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and is a regular contributor to Brighter Magazine, a magazine for women dealing with cancer.
Among her many honors, Dr. Gill received the American Academy of Dermatology’s 2018 Presidential Citation Award and the Dermatology Foundation’s 2017 Career Development Award. She is also a prior recipient of the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, an award created by the U.S. Congress for young scientists with exceptional potential.
Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Gill is a member of professional organizations that include the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Investigative Dermatology, the Melanoma Research Society, and the American Association for Cancer Research.
