Biography
Kenneth H. Lee, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pediatric otolaryngology and serves as Director of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant Program at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health in Dallas and Plano.
Dr. Lee earned his medical degree and a doctorate in anatomy and neurobiology at Boston University. He completed a residency in head and neck surgery at Washington University in St. Louis and received advanced training in otolaryngology and pediatric otolaryngology through separate fellowships at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, respectively.
Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2007.
Dr. Lee’s research interests include cochlear implantation, sensorineural hearing loss, and spiral ganglion cells. He leads a research lab that is developing a self-coiling cochlear implant electrode array using shape memory polymers, which would allow for fewer traumas during insertion of cochlear implants. He is the author of numerous publications, book chapters, and scholarly articles and frequently delivers presentations and invited lectures.
Dr. Lee is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Otological Society, the Triological Society, the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, and the Korean American Otolaryngology Society.
He holds the John W. and Rhonda K. Pate Professorship in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery.
