UCL injuries on the rise, from Little League to the major leagues

Nathan Boes, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Director of Sports Medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He specializes in sports medicine injuries involving the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee; joint replacement; and cartilage restoration.
Following his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Boes earned his medical degree at the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at UT Southwestern and Parkland and gained advanced training in shoulder reconstruction and sports medicine through a fellowship at Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas in Greenville, South Carolina. During that time he also served as a team physician for the Clemson Tigers football team, the Colorado Rockies baseball team, and local high school teams in Greenville.
Certified in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.
Dr. Boes is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Association, the Texas Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Dallas County Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.
He has delivered several presentations and published academic articles related to his areas of expertise.
Dr. Boes grew up in Arlington, Texas, and is happy to be back home serving his community.
