Biography
Raksha Jain, M.D., M.S.C.I., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Pulmonary and Clinical Care Medicine. A Dedman Family Scholar in Clinical Care, she also serves as Medical Director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program.
She has earned awards from the National Institutes of Health, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for her work on hormonal influences of lung disease in cystic fibrosis.
Originally from Dallas, Dr. Jain holds a bachelor's degree in molecular biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She received her medical degree at the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center, and completed internal medicine residency training at UT Southwestern, where she served as Chief Resident. She then obtained advanced training through a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she also earned a master's degree in clinical investigation.
Certified in pulmonology, critical care medicine, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Jain joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2010.
Her research interests include new treatments for cystic fibrosis and gender disparities in airway diseases. She oversees multicenter clinical trials related to cystic fibrosis and conducts her own clinical and molecular scientific research.
Outside of UT Southwestern, Dr. Jain is the Chair of the Sexual Health, Reproduction, and Gender Researching Working Group through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics Development Network.
