Biography
Reed C. Williams, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in treating musculoskeletal and sports injuries.
Dr. Williams earned his medical degree at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He completed a residency in sports medicine at the Temple-Moss Rehabilitation program in Philadelphia and received advanced training in sports and ultrasound medicine through a fellowship at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. He also holds a master’s degree in biological science from Drexel University.
Board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in both sports medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, and with additional credentialing in musculoskeletal ultrasound from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Dr. Williams joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.
Dr. Williams’s clinical interests include nonoperative ultrasound for diagnosing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, as well as regenerative and orthobiologic therapies such as platelet-rich plasma. He lectures and publishes research on these topics prodigiously.
Dr. Williams takes his roles as patient advocate, educator, and physician very seriously. His approach focuses on maximizing function and optimizing quality of life. He helps his patients understand the “what” and “why” behind their particular setbacks and works to give them the tools on how and when to move forward. He prides himself on the personal connections he makes with his patients and believes strongly that the art of medicine is just as important as the science behind it.
He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Personal Note
Dr. Williams moved to Frisco in 2019 with his wife, son, and their miniature Bernedoodle. His wife has a cat, which also lives with him. He enjoys all sports, especially football. You can find him outdoors, skiing, cycling, cooking, jamming to good music, and spending time with his family and friends.
