Biography
Rehan Quadri, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Vascular Interventional Radiology division of the UT Southwestern Medical Center Radiology department.
Dr. Quadri earned a bachelor's degree with academic honors in physiology and neurobiology and the philosophy of ethics as a member of the Scholar's program at the University of Maryland in College Park. He received a medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. During medical school he was awarded funding to develop an oral therapy for taste loss in the setting of head and neck cancer. After medical school, Dr. Quadri completed radiology residency training at UT Southwestern, where he was also a research scholar. He then pursued advanced training through a fellowship program in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
His clinical expertise includes catheter directed interventions in acute and chronic venous thromboembolic disease (PE and DVT); ablation and intra-arterial therapy of solid organ tumors (lung, kidney, and liver); endovascular creation of hemodialysis fistulas; interventional endocrinology (venous sampling and thyroid RFA); percutaneous genitourinary therapies for women and men; and embolization of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations. His research interests include endovascular fistula creation; venous thromboembolic disease; CT-guided lung biopsy and ablation; MR neurography for head and neck paragangliomas; and interventional endocrinology, including thyroid RFA, intracardiac thrombectomy, liquid biopsy and Y90 radioembolization of HCC.
Dr. Quadri sits on the Resident Call Prep Committee and Resident Evaluation Committee to expose the residents to the most critical call cases and ensure residents have well-rounded and supported comprehensive training to prepare them to read independently and confidently.
Dr. Quadri serves as the co-director of the Interventional Thyroidology Committee, a multidisciplinary committee with faculty from endocrinology, ENT, and surgery to discuss percutaneous image-guided interventions in thyroid disease. He also co-founded and leads the PE Response Team with faculty from Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. The PE Response Team seeks to improve the treatment and outcomes of PE and DVT. He also serves as the Lead M.D. for the Dialysis Access Service Line, which provides endovascular fistula creation using the WaveLinQ. He is also a member of the Lung and HCC Tumor Board to provide IR input for cases.
Dr. Quadri's work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. He is an active member of several professional societies and organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, and the American Medical Association.
Personal Note
Dr. Quadri enjoys watching and playing sports – particularly football and basketball. He also enjoys vacationing and skiing in Colorado.
