Serena Xiaohong Wang, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric ophthalmology, pediatric cataracts, and adult strabismus, with a specialty interest in pediatric cataract surgery and treatment.
Dr. Wang earned her medical degree at the Kunming Medical College in Kunming City, China. She completed a residency in ophthalmology at UT Southwestern, where she also received advanced training through fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology and corneal and external eye diseases. She also completed a research fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina Storm Eye Institute.
Dr. Wang is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Texas Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
She has published numerous articles resulting from her pediatric ophthalmology research, especially on the treatment of pediatric cataracts.
