Corneal refractive surgery: LASIK and beyond

S. Serdar Dogan, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in corneal and external eye diseases, cataract and refractive surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and comprehensive ophthalmology.
Dr. Dogan earned his medical degree at Ankara University in Turkey, where he also performed his residency in ophthalmology, followed by a research fellowship at the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic in Houston. He then completed a second residency in ophthalmology and fellowships in corneal and external eye diseases, pediatric ophthalmology, and strabismus, all at UT Southwestern.
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.
Dr. Dogan is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Cornea Society, and the Texas Ophthalmological Association. He has delivered several presentations and published multiple academic articles.
Dr. Dogan focuses on providing customized treatments for his patients using the latest ophthalmologic advancements. His research interests include advanced cataract and refractive surgery, as well as full-thickness and lamellar cornea transplants (including DMEK, DSEK, and DALK).
He was included in D Magazine's Best Doctors in Collin County list for 2021.
In his free time, Dr. Dogan enjoys sailing, skiing, and traveling with his wife – also a renowned physician – and their daughter.
