From cardiac
rehabilitation and home health care to interpreters and heart-healthy
nutritional guidance, UT Southwestern Medical Center offers a comprehensive
range of support services – including some that
are specific to patients with heart disease and their families.
Heart Support Services
- Cardiac rehabilitation: Our cardiac rehabilitation specialists
create customized plans that integrate proper nutrition, exercise, and, if
necessary, nicotine cessation into patients’ lifestyles to improve their
cardiovascular health.
- Clinical nutrition for heart health: Our clinical nutritionists help patients
improve their cardiovascular health by identifying areas for dietary changes,
planning realistic diets, and teaching them how to buy and cook healthier foods.
Additional Support Services
UT Southwestern
Medical Center offers a variety of support services to help patients while they’re in our
hospitals and clinics, and even after they’ve gone home.

cardiology services that include managing heart failure and left ventricular
assist devices (LVADs), delivering intravenous drugs such as antibiotics and
pain medications, and providing patient rehabilitation.
- Social
work and case management: Case managers are available to help patients and families address
financial, social, and emotional problems relating to their illness or
hospitalization.
- Interpreters: Interpreters for a number of languages
