Your Visit
Following check-in, a triage nurse will assess the severity of your condition and you will be assigned a private room for your ED stay.
Please note that during peak hours, wait times may fluctuate. Our staff must treat the most acutely ill patients first.
Care Team
Our team includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, technicians, and paramedics. We use a system of assessing severity of symptoms that determines whether you will see a physician or another member of the care team.

Comprehensive clinical testing is available onsite, including:
- Blood tests
- X-ray

Individual Plan of Care
The care team will work with you to determine the best course to care to meet clinical needs identified during your visit. When your tests are complete, we will review the results and create a plan of care.
Level IV Trauma Facility
Clements University Hospital has been designated a Level IV Basic Trauma Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services. That means we can provide resuscitation, stabilization, and assessment of injury victims and either give treatment or arrange for appropriate transfer to a higher-level designated trauma facility.
In addition, certain trauma patients who choose us for care will now have the option of having Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transport them to CUH.
Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
Our stroke specialists have expertise in every technique, approach, and medication that's available for patients experiencing strokes.
As one of only three Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Centers in North Texas – and one of ten in the state – UT Southwestern is recognized for offering an exceptional level of expertise in rapidly diagnosing strokes and providing effective treatment options based on the latest research and the highest standards of care.
Call 911 if you or someone you know is having a stroke.
