Innovation Techniques and Technology to Prevent Amputations
By using the newest technologies and therapies available to heal wounds, we are often able to provide alternative treatments for patients who have been told elsewhere amputation is their only option.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers
All wounds need oxygen to heal. Our clinic offers two monoplace (one-person) chambers. The patient simply lies within the large, clear acrylic tube filled with 100-percent oxygen at an atmospheric pressure about two times higher than normal. This increases the amount of oxygen in the blood and promotes quicker healing. Over multiple treatments, this treatment dramatically stimulates and supports wound healing.

This includes:
- Specialized wound-specific dressings and therapies: These treatments use gels, collagens, foams, and various other substances to help promote wound healing. We complement them with other support if needed, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. For moist wound healing strategies, patients receive dressings and modalities based on national guidelines for minimizing the number of painful dressing changes.
- Bioengineered skin substitutes: Our specialists use cell-based tissues to protect the wound and increase healing.
- Vascular surgery: Our vascular specialists are experts at providing care to restore blood flow, with solutions ranging from medications and minimally invasive techniques to traditional open surgery.
