Departments and Centers

The Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute is uniquely focused on advancing world-class scientific discoveries to build the understanding and treatment of neurological disorders. As a fully integrated Center, scientists and clinicians interact across Departments, Centers, and disciplines through multidisciplinary teams focused on accelerating progression in injury prevention, novel brain preservation strategies, and restoration of brain function lost by disease and injury.

Departments

The Department of Neuroscience focuses on neuronal and brain function research as it relates to health and diseases.
The Department of Neurological Surgery treats some of the most difficult cases of brain tumors, cerebrovascular disorders, and neurotrauma in the country.
The Department of Neurology advances therapies for neurological disorders through scientific research and by training future neurologists.
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation provides diagnoses and treatments to patients with stroke, brain injuries, spinal-cord injuries, and neuromuscular disorders.
The Department of Psychiatry conducts research and provides patient care for a full range of psychiatric conditions.
The Division of Child Neurology cares for neurological disorders in children from infancy to late adolescence.
The Division of Neuroradiology/Interventional uses advanced neuroimaging techniques and clinical interventions to diagnose and treat neurological and spine conditions.
The Department of Pathology is unmatched in its diagnostic, research, teaching, and training accomplishments.
