On Oct. 6, 2020, the 25th anniversary of her mother’s death from breast cancer, Angela Sells was diagnosed with stage 2 HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2)-positive breast cancer. She was 64 years old. Soon after her diagnosis, UT Southwestern Simmons Cancer Center started a clinical trial for her particular subtype of breast cancer. Angela’s story is much different than her mother’s.
