Biography
Shruti Zaveri, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is a surgical oncologist who specializes in the surgical treatment of breast cancer.
Dr. Zaveri earned her medical degree and a concurrent master’s degree in public health at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed a surgery residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital and received advanced training through a breast surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Certified by the American Board of Surgery, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.
Dr. Zaveri’s clinical and research interests include the surgical management of breast cancer, high-risk breast lesions, locally advanced breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer, and oncoplastic surgery. As Director of Global Surgical Oncology for UT Southwestern, she hopes to develop a program to build capacity for cancer care in low-resource settings. Dr. Zaveri has published several academic articles related to her areas of expertise and has presented her work nationally and internationally.
She is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons and serves on its Cancer Surgery Standards Program Education Committee. In 2023, Dr. Zaveri was named a finalist for the James Ewing Harvey Baker Traveling Fellow Award from the Society of Surgical Oncology.
Personal Note
Dr. Zaveri is fully committed to the care of her breast cancer patients and helping them fight through this difficult time in their lives. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, crafting, and traveling.
